De-cluttering for the ultimate feel-good factor

Want to give yourself an instant lift? De-clutter your life. I’m serious!

One of the first things I encourage someone I’m coaching to do is to de-clutter the spaces around them, both at work and home. What a hassle you may say, but once you start you will get such a boost you won’t want to stop. Even serious hoarders get addicted after a while.

That’s because de-cluttering symbolises making way for a new era in your life. I know myself, once I de-cluttered I had more room in my mind for positive things to enter. Overall, I felt I had more energy and more time. You will too. It’s like an overwhelming sense of freedom having (literally) more room in your life to do the things you want.

If you want to let go of the past and all the things that are holding you back from having the life you want, then start by de-cluttering. Here are just some of the upsides:

  • You save time by not having to sort through piles of stuff to find what you’re looking for.

  • You rediscover things you forgot you had and can put them to practical use.

  • You’re being unselfish by ensuring that when you move onto the next life, you’re not leaving all your clutter for someone else to deal with.

  • You can help save the planet by recycling.

  • You can help other people by donating your goods to charity shops.

  • You may be able to make some extra cash by selling your more valuable items on Trade Me.
